My Declaration of Self-Esteem

I thought I would send out something a little different this week - a series of statements that I personally come back to every now and again when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I just arrived home from Egypt this past Monday, and to be honest, I'm feeling out of sorts in trying to develop a normal routine again! I found myself projecting my frustrations and exhaustion onto other people and situations - I have been back into some junk food, I have been feeling too tired to exercise, and have simply had a lack of motivation to face the things I usually face. I came across this "Declaration of Self Esteem" and it really brought things back to perspective. We can all feel worthless, sad, angry, frustrated, overwhelmed, numb, etc. as we push ahead on our weight loss/healthy lifestyle journey. It's imporant to realize how much control we really have in ourselves - even if the world around us feels completely chaotic.

Never, ever give up on yourself - no matter what!

MY DECLARATION OF SELF ESTEEM

• In the entire world, there is no one else exactly like me; everything that comes out of me is authentically mine because I alone choose it.

• I own everything about me, my body, my feelings, all my actions, whether they are to others or to me.

• I own my Fantasies, my Dreams, my Hopes, my Fears.

• I own all my Triumphs and Successes, all my Failures and Mistakes.

• Because I own Me, I can become intimately acquainted with Me.

• By so doing I can love Me and be Friendly with Me in all my Parts.

• I know there are aspects about Myself that puzzle Me, and other aspects I do not know.

• But since I am Friendly and Loving to Myself, I can courageously and hopefully look for the solutions to the Puzzles and the Ways to find out more about me.

• However I look and sound, whatever I say or do and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is authentically ME.

• I hate some parts of how I look, sound, think, and feel. I can discard that which is negative and develop something positive to replace that which I have discarded.

• I can See, Hear, Feel, Think, Say and Do.

• I have the Tools to survive to be close to others, to be productive and to make Sense and Order out of the world.

• I own Me, therefore I can engineer Me. I am Me and I am OK.
