Wendy Kendrick
Director of Client Counselling and Registered Nurse
Wendy is a graduate of Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in London, Ontario and obtained her Bachelor of Science of Nursing and Masters of Education in Organizational Studies from the University of Ottawa. She has always maintained a strong interest in weight related health issues and has spent 25 years counselling patients on wellness and the prevention of disease. As former President of the Ontario Family Practice Nurses Association, she holds strong beliefs in the teaching role of nurses within the office setting. With her outstanding knowledge of nutrition, Wendy develops general and individualized programs for clients. She is dedicated to working with clients to help them achieve their goals.
Anne Spero
Client Counsellor and Registered Nurse
Anne is a graduate of the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and has over 30 years of experience in Nursing in an office setting. She shows great expertise in the areas of nutrition and wellness. Anne knows how complex weight loss can be and shows empathy and great understanding. She combines a great sense of humour with her skills to effectively counsel clients through daily struggles that may deflect them from their weight loss goals.
Maureen Hunka
Client Counsellor and Registered Nurse
Maureen has 33 years experience teaching Nursing at both the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing and Algonquin College Nursing Program. Following her retirement from teaching, she joined the clinic in 2004. Maureen has a Bachelor of Science of Nursing Education and a Masters of Education in Counselling from the University of Ottawa and is a graduate of the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing. In addition to her role as counsellor, she is also a tremendous asset to the team in developing new motivational tools and incorporating Cognitive Therapy techniques.
Tiia Bishop
Client Counsellor, Personal Trainer and Client Services
Tiia has been working closely with her father at the Weight Management Clinic since 2004. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biology & Psychology from Wilfred Laurier University, has completed many ASBP courses and has recently completed a course in Motivational Interviewing at Northeastern University. She is a certified Personal Trainer Specialist through Can-Fit-Pro, and has developed individualized exercise programs for a large portion of our clients. When counselling clients, Tiia is able to combine her expertise in physical fitness with her current knowledge and skills to promote healthy lifestyles and help clients achieve their goals.
Heather Snelson
Client Counsellor and Client Services
Heather has been a part of Dr. Bishop's team since May 2007.
She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & French and has completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa. Heather understands first-hand the challenges associated with weight loss and healthy eating, and always shares thoughts, advice and words of encouragement when she is counselling clients. She has completed a course in Motivational Interviewing at Northeastern University and combines her knowledge and experience to help others who are struggling to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Kate Parry
Client Services & Administration
Kate has been a part of Dr. Bishop's team since October 2010. Originally from New Zealand, she has a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies from Victoria University of Wellington and a strong background in office administration. Kate is very concious about the importance of good nutrition and daily activity, and is always willing to lend an empathetic ear.
Kim Kennedy
Client Services & Administration
Kim has been a part of Dr. Bishop’s team since June 2007. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History & French from Carleton University and is currently completing her Masters of Science in Teaching at Potsdam University. Having previously worked at Curves and Changes for Women, Kim brings with her an understanding of the importance of achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the barriers involved with doing so. Kim has completed a web design course and played a major role in the creation and maintenance of our new website. She is currently on maternity leave.
